Jouw droom over Europa

Iedereen kon meedoen. Inzendingen van jongeren zijn belangrijk, want Europa is hun toekomst. De deadline was 31 maart 2025

De prijsuitreiking vond plaats op woensdag 16 april in het stadhuis van Veenendaal in aanwezigheid van de burgemeester. 

Gedeputeerde Mirjam Sterk van de Provincie Utrecht, met Europa in haar portefeuille, reikte de prijzen uit.

 I. Instructie. Hoe ga je te werk?

1. Brainstorm eerst: schrijf al je gedachten op die direct bij je opkomen wanneer je aan Europa denkt. Je mag vrij denken: we zijn benieuwd naar je ideeën en droombeelden over Europa!

2. Schrijf een originele tekst waarbij je je verbeelding gebruikt over het fictieve Europa over 50 jaar.
Leef je in, hoe voelen mensen zich, wat kunnen ze, wat denken ze, hoe ziet de omgeving eruit, de natuur enzovoort. Zorg dat je het Europa van je droom echt voor je ziet, zodat je vervolgens zo schrijft dat de lezer het ook weer voor zich ziet en begrijpt wat je boodschap is.

3. Herlees en herschrijf je tekst. Niet alleen bij stap 1 kom je op ideeën, maar ook tijdens het schrijven en herlezen en herschrijven.

4. Concentreer je op je sterkste beeld.

5. Blijf binnen de 500 woorden.

II. Beoordelingscriteria. Waar kijken we naar?

De jury let met name op vijf aspecten:

• Originaliteit: de tekst heeft iets speciaals.

• Verrassing: Leuke, frisse en onverwachte beelden.

• Schoonheid / taal: mooie en sterke zinnen.

• Zeggingskracht: blijft het beeld hangen?

• Kwaliteit: de tekst is helder en begrijpelijk.

III. Inzending

Je kon inzenden als word document tot 31 maart 2025, 24 uur naar roeland@schworks.nl

Met je inzending geef je kunstenaar en schrijver Roeland Schweitzer toestemming om je tekst te publiceren.

IV. Jury, prijzen, uitslag en prijsuitreiking

De onafhankelijke jury wordt geleid door dr. Edith Alkema, oud docent aan het Revius Lyceum in Doorn.

Over de uitslag kan niet worden gecorrespondeerd.

De drie winnende inzendingen ontvangen een prijzenpakket, waaronder bijvoorbeeld een uitnodiging om een Europese ambassade te bezoeken, een boekenbon, boeken over Europese landen.

De  hoofdprijs is een tweedaagse presentatietraining bij Speechen.nl

De (winnende) teksten worden indien mogelijk gepubliceerd in lokale media en op www.schworks.nl

Your dream about Europe

We would like to invite you to participate in the writing competition that is part of the exhibition Maps of Europe, in April in the city hall of Veenendaal.
To do this, write a creative, playful text of 500 words about your Europe in, say, 2075.

The deadline is 31 March 2025, 24 hours.

Who can participate?
In principle, everyone can participate. We would like to receive many entries from young people, because Europe is your future.
Perhaps you would like to hang the poster at school, in the library, or elsewhere!
I. Instructions. How do you proceed?
1. First brainstorm: write down all the thoughts that immediately come to mind when you think of Europe. You are free to think: we are curious about your ideas and dreams about Europe!

2. Write an original text in which you use your imagination about the fictional Europe in 50 years. Empathize with people, how they feel, what they can do, what they think, what the environment looks like, nature, etc. Make sure you really see the Europe of your dream, so that you can then write in such a way that the reader can see it again and understands your message.

3. Reread and rewrite your text. You will not only come up with ideas during step 1, but also during writing and rereading and rewriting.

4. Concentrate on your strongest image.
5. Stay within 500 words.

II. Assessment criteria. What do we look for?
The jury pays particular attention to five aspects:
• Originality: the text has something special.
• Surprise: Nice, fresh and unexpected images.
• Beauty / language: beautiful and strong sentences.
• Expressiveness: does the image stick?
• Quality: the text is clear and understandable.

III. Submission
You can submit as a Word document until March 31, 2025, 24 hours to roeland@schworks.nl

With your submission you give artist and writer Roeland Schweitzer permission to publish your text.

IV. Jury, prizes, results and award ceremony
The independent jury is led by Dr. Edith Alkema, former teacher at the Revius Lyceum in Doorn.
Correspondence about the results is not possible.
The three winning entries will receive a prize package, including for example an invitation to visit a European embassy, ​​a book voucher, books about European countries.
The main prize is a two-day presentation training at Speechen.nl
The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday April 16 at 4 pm in the city hall of Veenendaal in the presence of the mayor.
Provincial Executive Mirjam Sterk of the Province of Utrecht, with Europe in her portfolio, will present the prizes. The (winning) texts will be published in local media and on www.schworks.nl if possible
